Trump: Evidently not an Apprentice

Donald John Trump is a television and radio personality and writer, a business executive, and an entrepreneur. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Trump Organization — a real estate developer based in the United States as well as founder of Trump Entertainment which operates a number of casinos.

He is the son of Fred Trump, a successful real estate developer who operated in New York City before he died of pneumonia in June 1999. Born on June 14, 1946 in New York, Donald John Trump was deeply influenced by his successful father and stated that “My father was my mentor, and I learned a tremendous amount about every aspect of the construction industry from him.”

Donald Trump began his honing his prowess in business in his family’s real estate business after graduating from Wharton Business School. He closely worked with his forebear and it was here that his talent for making business grew evident. Fred Trump noticed and acknowledged this by commenting that his son has the Midas’ touch.

After a time, he tried his hand on the Manhattan real estate industry and went on to purchase the most lucrative properties in the city. His repertoire of real estate properties includes Trump International Hotel, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Trump Casino, Trump Tower, and the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino.

Donald Trump is not one to give up easily and his indomitable spirit has seen him rise from several financial problems that included one that was caused by the United States’ recession in 1989. He has long since overcome this hurdles and once again laid claim to success.

The businessman has a different tack on how he handles things and one of the reasons why he has achieved a quasi-celebrity status is his uncommon propensity to brand his properties with his family name. Another is his hairstyle, which has remain unchanged and is oftentimes the subject of ridicule by prominent personalities and even his fans.

His publicity soared skyward in 2004 when he starred in a reality show that he produced along with Mark Burnett. This show, which has already gained worldwide attention and success — not to mention spawned numerous imitations — is the Apprentice, an elimination-style competition that pitted sixteen contestants from all over the United States in a bid to become an apprentice to the successful realtor. It has also popularized Donald Trump’s line of “You’re fired,” a statement given to contestants who were eliminated.

Donald John Trump is a very assertive businessman whose indulgent lifestyle and unusual practices have gained him the attention of people wherever he goes. He currently owns portions of the three world-renowned beauty contests namely, the Miss Universe, Miss Teen USA, and the Miss USA competitions.

He has also penned best-selling books that include “The Art of Survival,” “How to Get Rich,” and “The Art of the Deal.” He also is a philanthropist and has been a member of a number of charitable and civic organizations.
