Day of War by Cliff Graham
People of the Christian faith often disregard any material that is not labeled “Christian.” The only books that are deemed appropriate are those that depict happy people carrying sheep. Not that this is wrong in any way, especially in the education of children. However, there will ultimately come a time when the serious and unhappy sections of the Bible must be acknowledged. In the book Day of War, scenes of war and brutality under the awesome power of God offer readers a side of the Biblical narrative that is often lacking in Christian fiction.
The volume is the first book in the Lion of War series written by Cliff Graham. Published by Tate Publishing & Enterprises, L.L.C, it will come out in September 2009.
Graham, an officer in the United States Army and a devout Christian, attended Black Hills State University and Liberty Theological Seminary.
Using characters taken from the book of Samuel, the book applies a heavy, dark tone that is frequently absent in church mandated readings to establish an honest opinion of our faith. The author uses Jesus’ promise that His followers will suffer greatly to depict a realm where God is the greatest good and the only hope for redemption.
Day of War is an inspirational book that persuades its readers to look outside the box of typical Christian fiction and see that fighting men of then and now, despite the divergence in culture and history, all live the story of King David’s Mighty Men. It presents the concept of Christianity beyond that of conventional Christian novels while outshining them in terms of spiritual and literary depth.
Critics speak very highly of the book’s exceedingly different approach to Christian fiction. It is thoroughly researched, steadfast, and thrilling. Day of War puts certain events in Hebrew Scriptures in a new light.
