The heroine in the novel is Sookie Stackhouse. She is a waitress in a diner called Merlotte’s in Bon Temps, Louisiana. She is no typical southern belle since she is a telepathist and has a thing for vampires and the supernatural.

The book is a compilation of every Sookie Stackhouse short story written by Charlaine Harris. Together in one volume, the stories include Fairy Dust, One Word Answer, Dracula Night, Lucky and Gift wrap.

Fans of the paranormal world will truly love this book for its blend of action, romance and comedy. With this book, Harris created a world where people live side-by-side with supernatural beings in one society. The world depicted in the book is much like our own, except of course for the vampires and other supernatural creatures present. With this fun series, it’s easy to understand why the paranormal genre is becoming so popular nowadays.

A Touch of Dead is truly an exciting read. A heroine like Sookie Stackhouse is engaging, sexy and smart – someone whom people will truly love. All the stories portrayed about her Southern life and her affinity for the undead are told in the Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris.

Charlaine Harris has written several series but it wasn’t until 2001 that she launched her book Dead Until Dark. This was the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse or Southern Vampire series and it instantly became a huge hit in the paranormal genre. Readers adored the series, which gave her one bestseller after bestseller and one award after another. In 2008, the Sookie Stackhouse saga was brought to life on HBO through the top rated television adaptation entitled True Blood.
